Migrate Data from Zendesk (Zwitch)

Thank you for considering Zoho Desk. You can migrate data from your Zendesk account to Zoho Desk in just a few quick steps.

Supported Modules
The following are the modules that you can migrate to Zoho Desk.
  • Tickets
  • Comments
  • Attachments
  • Articles
  • End-users
  • Organizations

Note:
  • Data migration is not available for the Free edition.
  • You cannot migrate custom tabs/modules to Zoho Desk.
  • You can choose to skip modules that are not relevant or required.

Prerequisites
Get Zendesk Data: You need to export the data from your Zendesk account in XML format.
To export data to XML files:
  1. Log in to your Zendesk account.
  2. Click the Admin icon (  ) in the sidebar, then select Manage > Reports.
  3. Click the Export tab.
  4. Click Request file besides, Full XML export.
You'll receive an email containing the download link (ends with .zip) within a couple of minutes.

Note:
  • You must be an administrator on Professional or Enterprise plan of Zendesk to export data to XML.
  • The download link you received from Zendesk is valid for up to 3 days.

Scheduling Data Migration
You must schedule the migration of Zendesk data in your Zoho Desk account.
To schedule the migration:
  1. Click the Setup icon  ) in the top bar.
  2. Click Zwitch under the Data Administration menu.



  3. In the Migration Details section, do the following:
    • Zendesk URL: Enter your company's Zendesk URL.
      It should look something like this - https://zylker.zendesk.com/
    • Email & Password: Enter the login credentials of your Zendesk account.
      Please note that we encrypt your credentials, and they will be used only for the purpose of migrating your data.
    • Full XML Export URL: Enter the XML download URL, you had received from Zendesk.
      Make sure that the URL has not expired.
  4. In the Zoho Desk Credentials section, enter your Zoho Desk email address and password.
  5. In the What to Migrate? section, select the Zendesk modules whose data will be migrated into Zoho Desk.
    You can select from:
    • Organizations
    • End-users
    • Tickets and
    • Articles
  6. Click Submit.



The system will run a sanity check, and you should receive an email containing an estimated time for completing the migration.

Note:
  • When the migration is complete, an email is sent to the user (Administrator) who initiated the migration.
  • Do not to reset your Zendesk password until your data is migrated to Zoho Desk.

Viewing Migration History
The migration history provides a detailed picture of your recently completed migration. It contains information like the modules migrated, records imported under each module, migration start time and the end time.



To view migration history:
  1. Click the Setup icon  ) in the top bar.
  2. Click Zwitch under the Data Administration menu.
  3. On the New Migration page, click Migration History.
