How to set up a workflow for contacts who've not opened and not clicked on a link in their email

Effective communication in a business relies on how your contacts react to your emails. We often need to create a list of contacts who've not responded to the emails sent to them. With workflows, you can identify such contacts. Upon receiving this list, you can choose how to contact these unresponsive contacts.

Follow the method below to set up a workflow process for those contacts who've not opened their email or not clicked on a link in their email.

  1. From the Navigation toolbar, select Automation and click Workflows.

  2. Click Create Workflow from the top-right and select a workflow template.

  3. From the left panel, drag and drop a trigger onto the canvas—in this case, let's choose the list entry trigger.

  4. Drag and drop the send email action under 'Engagement' from the left panel under the trigger.

  5. Click Create Message. Create the email content and get it reviewed. In this case, create a message called "Zylker Sale."

  6. Add the wait time component under the message and set a delay—say, 1 hour. This is to get the list of contacts who've not opened the email and not clicked on a link in the email in the given period.

  7. Now add the email activity component under the wait time component for the same email message, "Zylker Sale," and configure the "Not opened" and "Opened but not clicked on any link" actions.

  8. After the delay of 1 hour, contacts that have not opened the email will move into the "Not Opened" path while contacts who've not clicked on a link in the email will move to the "Opened but not clicked on any link" path.

  9. Next, add further actions for the contacts in the two paths to perform. For example, you can add the contacts who've not opened their email to a new list and subtract a score for the contacts who've not clicked on a link in the email.
