How can you use email response to get contacts who have clicked or not clicked on links in your emails
Email response lets you enable actions for contacts to perform based on their responses to emails sent to them. So what happens to those contacts who've opened but not clicked on any links in your emails? This guide will help you configure the email response process for these contacts in detail.
Follow the method below to configure the email response process for those contacts who've clicked or not clicked on a link in their email.
- From the Navigation toolbar, select Automation and click Workflows.
- Click Create Workflow from the top-right and select a workflow template.
- From the left panel, drag and drop a trigger onto the canvas. In this case, let's choose the list entry trigger.
- Drag and drop the 'Send Email' action from the left panel under the trigger.
- Click Create Message, create the email content and get it reviewed. In this case, create a message called "Zylker Sale."
- Enable the 'response' button.
- Configure the "delivered" and "clicked on any link" response actions for your email message.
- You can configure the clicked on specific link response to check if contacts have clicked or not clicked on a specific link.
- Add a 'Wait Time' component under the delivered response path and set a delay of, say, 1 hour. This is to get the list of contacts who've not clicked on a link in the email in the given period.
- Now add the 'Email Activity' component under the wait time component for the same email message, "Zylker Sale," and configure the "Opened but not clicked on any link" action.
- After the delay of one hour, all contacts who've not clicked on any link will move into the "Opened but not clicked on any link" path.
- Next, add further actions for the contacts to perform in the two paths of the workflow. For example, you can add the contacts who've not clicked on a link in their email to a new list and add a score for contacts who've clicked on a link in the email.
Why do we configure both the "delivered" and "clicked on a link" responses in this method?
- Using the delivered response lets you know to which contacts the email was sent to generate the list of contacts who have not clicked on a link in the email.
- Using the clicked on any link or clicked on a specific link response lets you immediately get a list of contacts who've clicked on the link in the email.
