Enroll via NFC

Enroll via NFC

You can use the Near Field Communication (NFC) enrollment method to enroll corporate-owned devices without using Google services. This enrollment method involves setting up an admin device and enrolling devices using the admin device.

Using this method, you can only enroll devices one at a time. Once devices are enrolled, you can assign the enrolled devices to users in Zoho One.

When enrolling devices, only devices running Android versions 5.0 or later (except Samsung) can be provisioned as Device owner (i.e., Corporate devices). Samsung devices and the devices running Android versions below 5.0 will be enrolled as Legacy device.

Prerequisites

  1. Both the admin device and target device must support NFC
  2. The Vendor and OS version of the target devices must be known at the time of enrollment
  3. Devices must be new or factory-reset (if used)

Set up admin device

To enroll devices via NFC, you need to set up an admin device by installing the NFC enrollment app on that device.
To set up an admin device:
  1. Download the NFC enrollment app and install it on your device.
  2. Open the app, then tap GET STARTED.
  3. Tap CLOUD.
  4. Enter your admin credentials, then tap SIGN IN.
Your device is now set up as the admin device for NFC enrollment. You can now distribute ManageEngine MDM app to target devices and enroll them. Once you have enrolled the devices, you can assign the enrolled devices to users.

Enroll target devices

Before you start enrolling, turn on the devices and make sure they are on the language selection page.

To distribute the app and enroll devices:
  1. In the NFC enrollment app, choose the OS version of the target device. If the device vendor is Samsung, go to the SAMSUNG tab, then choose the OS version.
Target device version 5.0 or above      Target device version 4. or above

  2. Make sure the prerequisites mentioned are satisfied, then tap BUMP TO DISTRIBUTE.
  3. Tap both devices together on their backs, then touch the screen of the admin device to distribute ManageEngine MDM app to the target device.
  4. In the target device, connect to a Wi-Fi network, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the ManageEngine MDM app.
Note: Make sure installation is complete before proceeding further.
  5. Tap COMPLETE ENROLLING THIS DEVICE, then tap BUMP TO ENROLL.
  6. Tap both devices together on their backs, then touch the screen of the admin device to start enrolling the target device.
  7. Once the enrollment is finished, tap FINISH in the target device.
  8. Click ENROLL ANOTHER DEVICE in the admin device to enroll more devices.
